PATIENTS STRANDED AT KITSWAMBA HEALTH CENTER III IN KASESE

Over 50 patients were this morning stranded at Kitswamba Health Center III in Kitswamba sub-county, Kasese district as all medical workers were found absent.
Mr. Selevest Musubaho who was seeking treatment for malaria said he reached the health center at 9am and did not see any medical worker before going back home after midday.
He said that the health center was closed and there was no one to ask about the whereabouts of the medical workers.
The Chairman LC3 Kitswamba sub-county Mr. Constant Komu who together with members of the executive rushed to the health facility after being notified of the problem, described the situation as unfortunate.
He said similar reports have been coming to his office since the start of February.
Mr. Komu said he found patients who included the elderly, women and children stranded at the health facility.
Efforts to reach the health in charge Mr. Mike Biregho were futile because his mobile phone would not go through.
However, the Chairman LC One of Muhumuza Village where the health center is located Mr. Semu Kuhanda said that the new in charge has not been reporting to the facility ever since he was transferred there last month.
The district health officer Dr. Yusuf Baseka confirmed the incident adding that investigations are on so that the health workers are compelled to questioning.
